Maintenance Tips for your Artificial Grass
Brushing

Basic maintenance for your artificial lawn is an occasional brush. Brushing the lawn helps the pile to remain standing upright. A stiff bristle brush works best for this. During periods of higher use, for example in the summer months, you might find that you need to brush slightly more often to prevent the blades becoming compacted.
General Cleaning
The grass can be hosed or brushed to keep it clean. The grass will not be harmed wiht the use of household detergent for any stubborn stains.
Pet Owners

If your pet leaves any mess on the lawn then you will need to remove it from the surface of the grass as soon as possible. It will not harm the grass, but it is more hygenic and easy to clean when any solid matter is "fresh". The turf can be washed down with hot tap water, if necessary, to remove any residue left on the surface. (A mixture of one part fabric conditioner to 20 parts water can be used to neutralise any residual odours).
Leaves

If your garden is an area where fallen leaves will accumulate during the autumn months, it is extremely important to remove the leaves from the surface. A garden vacuum is excellent for this purpose. By doing this you minimise the risk of moss or weed growth on top of the surface. Leaves left on there for a prolonged period will provide ideal conditions for the formation of moss or weed growth.
Protecting your grass
If you are carrying out any work near the artificial grass, for example painting fences, sheds, or decking, it is advisable to put protective sheets on the grass to prevent spillage of substances that may be difficult to remove, just as you would for a carpet in the house.
A few things best avoided .......

....... anything that involves a naked flame: for instance, smoking, lighting fireworks or a bonfire, or even a barbeque. Although the Scotgreens
artificial grass products are fire retardant, the fibres would melt on contact with flames or hot embers.
........ getting substances such as adhesives, chewing gum or paint on the area. These would be a nuisance to remove.
........ putting very sharp objects, such as certain types of metal garden furniture, directly on the lawn. These can damage the tuft and latex backing
of the grass. There are ways round this. Just call us for advice.
